“A dress shouldn’t cost a childhood” campaign
Today I’ll present you a social campaign, which main cause is to raise awareness on important social issue, so that this to lead to a positive change in our minds and respectively in our lives.
This campaign is raising awareness about the child labor.
“You can’t regulate child labor. You can’t regulate slavery. Some things are just wrong.” – Michael Moore.
Why such campaigns are needed?
Based on the latest child labor statistics by UNICEF, in the world’s poorest countries, slightly more than 1 in 5 children are engaged in child labor.
The campaign, which I present you today, is created by “Lew’Lara/ TBWA” for the “Abrinq Foundation”, which is affiliated with the international NGO “Save the children”.
The main idea of the campaign is to look behind the glitter and luxury part of the fashion industry, so that to see the truth. And the truth sometimes is not pleasant.
For example, one of the truths in the high fashion industry is that it is a prison for millions of workers around the world and a significant part of them are children.
The visuals represent the high fashion clothes as a prison for the exploited in the fashion supply chains children, which are illustrated among the stripes of the clothes on the visuals, symbolizing their slavery.
Main key messages of the campaign:
- “A tunic shouldn’t cost a childhood.”
- “A pullover shouldn’t cost a childhood.”
- “A dress shouldn’t cost a childhood.”
- “A sweater shouldn’t cost a childhood.”
And here are the key visuals of the campaign.
And to be clear, this material is not against the fashion or the high fashion – I love them and their creativity. This material is against the bad and non-moral practices.
Usually I write in this part of the material “Enjoy”, but this time I’ll write “Think about it”:
